Trainer Robbie Griffiths will learn more about his unbeaten colt Legacy Bound after the three-year-old gets another look at the Flemington straight.
In a dress rehearsal for the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on November 1, nine three-year-olds will clash in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1100m) on Saturday.
A first-up winner of the Listed Poseidon Stakes over Saturday's course and distance on September 13, Griffiths said he was looking forward to seeing Legacy Bound against high class opposition that includes Tentyris and Rosberg.
Legacy Bound started his career with a win at Ballarat on April 2 with Jye Mcneil aboard before travelling to Morphettville to claim a Stakes race on April 26 with Mark Zahra in the saddle.
He was put away following that performance and Griffiths held him back due to a spate of wet tracks but with the view of being at his peak for the Coolmore Stud Stakes.
Zahra rode the colt first-up at Flemington, but McNeil takes over on Saturday.
"He just won down the straight first-up as he hadn't been there before, but he wasn't wound right up for the race either, so the fact that he won was a good thing," Griffiths said.
"He's trained on super. He galloped in a group of three on Monday and he went great.
"Fingers crossed he can do it again."
With the rail out nine metres, Griffiths is unsure where the field will spread, but the trainer is confident having had a look down the straight course will be a benefit for Legacy Bound.
"He's drawn three, but he showed the other day that he can probably go anywhere," Griffiths said.
"The thing that concerns me is that Zahra has got off him to ride Tentyris.
"They kept me hanging until he trialled it, so that horse and Clinton McDonald's horse (Rosberg), they look the ones.
"Hopefully they're saying that about us as well and we'll know on Saturday who has the better one.
"He's a better horse going into this run and there's still room for more as there's another four weeks until the Grand Final."
