Trainer John Mcardle will get to shore up spring plans for My Gladiola after she runs down the straight for a second time at Flemington.
My Gladiola's result in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1100m) on Saturday will tell the trainer whether he presses on again against the boys in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) on November 1 or waits to tackle the fillies in the Group 3 Red Roses Stakes (1100m) five days later.
McArdle said following one of those races there was the potential of heading to the Group 3 Thoroughbred Club of Australia Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield, raised this year to $1 million, on November 15.
My Gladiola made her Flemington straight debut taking out the Listed Cap D'Antibes Stakes (1100m) on September 13.
That race was chosen to give the filly experience down the Flemington straight with the Danehill and then the Coolmore in mind.
McArdle said he would like to see My Gladiola strip a bit of body weight, but added the filly was in good order ahead of Saturday's race.
"She's a big heavy horse and looks like a colt," McArdle said.
"I would like her a bit lighter, but she seems to run that way.
"After the Cap D'Antibes, she was a couple of kilos heavier on the Monday than what she was before the race. They usually lose weight, but she put weight on, which isn't a bad thing at all.
"The Cap D'Antibes was chosen over other races to give her experience down the straight and it was the first time she had been away from Sandown or Caulfield.
"She did get a bit antsy when she first got there, which she's not like usually, but she settled down well, and it didn't affect her race day."
McArdle said My Gladiola was a Group 1 winner in waiting, but whether it's this spring or in the autumn, or sometime after that, he is unsure.
"A filly with a pedigree like hers, she's already worth a lot of money, but a Group 1 would make her worth stupid money," McArdle said.
"I'm confident she will find one, one day, whether it's this spring or the autumn, or something like that, I think she does have that ability.
"Hopefully it's the Coolmore."
My Gladiola has drawn barrier six in the nine-horse field on Saturday after drawing 18 of 18 when winning the Cap D'Antibes and racing without cover the whole race.
"We know at home when she gets some cover, her turn of foot is better again," McArdle said.
"She's only drawn inside 10 once and that was the day at her first start at Sandown when she settled back off them and was explosive."
