Seppelt Wines Stakes Day

Saturday, 7 November

The Melbourne Cup Carnival concluded a memorable week of world-class racing, fashion and entertainment with
Seppelt Wines Stakes Day.

Arcadia Queen took out the $2 million feature race of the day, the Group 1 Seppelt Mackinnon Stakes. It was an emotional win for Grant Williams, co-trainer of the wonderful mare, who will return to her home state of Western Australia for a break after winning her second Group 1 this spring.

Globetrotting mare True Self won the Group 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes for the second year in a row and took home a $200,000 bonus after being balloted from the Lexus Melbourne Cup.

Bivouac confirmed his status as one of the nation’s best sprinters with a brilliant performance in the Group 1 Darley Sprint Classic. Champion jockey Glen Boss was in the saddle as Bivouac defeated Nature Strip and Libertini to take his earnings past $5.5 million.

In a first for our iconic fashion competition, the Myer Fashions on your Front Lawn Just For Fun categories saw people from around Australia embrace the opportunity to get dressed up during Cup Week. From chic loungewear at home and fashionable coordinated families, to outrageous headwear and pets in fancy dress, the winners of the four playful categories won some fabulous prizes.

Closing out an epic week of entertainment Australian-born, LA-based musician, Sam Fischer performed his global hit ‘This City’ from the rooftop of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in LA. Bonnie Anderson was back to perform the high energy song that helped her win this years Masked Singer, ‘When Love Takes Over’, pre-recorded on the Roof Garden of the VRC Club Stand at Flemington.
