Ms Allison (Alli) Purdey was appointed to the VRC Board in September 2022.
Allison is an experienced legal adviser with Australian and international exposure in a range of areas of law including Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate/Commercial, Finance, Compliance and Company Secretarial. Allison has deep understanding of the operations of mining and other industries including manufacturing, broadcasting and peak sporting bodies. Allison’s professional background has involved presenting to corporate boards, negotiating with counterparties and engaging with regulators across all levels, as well as roles on not-for-profit and community sport boards and committees. Allison comes to the VRC with direct experience providing advice to racing industry participants regarding matters such as equine quarantine, wagering and broadcasting.
Allison has had a longstanding personal involvement with racing throughout her life. Allison was born into a family with a passion for racing and equine welfare. With a great uncle the strapper of a Melbourne Cup winner (Colonus, 1942) and a successful country trainer, racing has been a part of family history. Allison’s family became directly involved in racing when she was a child which led to being able to share in the joy of a Melbourne Cup runner, and a recent Melbourne Cup winner. As a thoroughbred racehorse owner herself, she has experienced metropolitan and country racing victories (including some special country cups).
Allison holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws.
