I’m Jo, the designer behind Jo Maree Millinery based down on Melbourne’s beautiful Mornington Peninsula. I love the magic that’s created when imagination, maths and millinery collide and my favourite millinery to design, make and wear is undoubtedly a classic boater hat. For my entry to the VRC 2024 Lillian Frank AM MBE Millinery Award I designed ‘Catcher of Dreams’ using string art, geometry, the odd calculation and a whole bunch of engineering with the most luxurious deep cherry red braid. I will pair my Millinery Award entry with matching accessories and a stunning 60's inspired fluorescent yellow dress. This gave rise to me nicknaming the ensemble 'the hot-dog look' thus my reference inspo pic of a bottle of tomato sauce and mustard included in my video for a bit of light-hearted fun.
