Murphy
My name is Sarah Murphy, and I’m currently completing my graduate year at the Whitehouse Institute of Design in Sydney. As an emerging designer, my work is deeply inspired by personal experiences and influences. My graduate collection highlights a central theme of horses and the equestrian lifestyle, integrating horse bits in a bold and unconventional way. I’ve drawn inspiration from various elements of the horse; their mane, musculature, and equipment, which I’ve artfully woven into my design. This approach reflects my passion for merging diverse textures with striking pieces, resulting in statement-making looks. By reimagining the historical elements of equestrianism and its associated fashion, I’ve crafted a contemporary interpretation of the "horse-girl" aesthetic. This project has deepened my connection to both the equestrian and fashion communities, revealing how beautifully these worlds intersect. Through this journey, I’ve also developed a greater appreciation for the craftsmanship involved in equestrian equipment, which has influenced the meticulous detailing in my designs. Moving forward, I am excited to continue pushing creative boundaries while exploring the fusion of tradition and innovation in fashion.
