The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) will host its annual VRC Country Race Day on Saturday 7 June 2025, celebrating and recognising the vital contributions of country racing participants including the presentation of the 2025 Country Achiever Award.

The Country Achiever Award, presented in conjunction with the Australian Trainers’ Association (ATA) and Country Racing Victoria (CRV), recognises a country-based trainer who has made a significant contribution to the racing industry. This year’s recipient is well-known trainer Eric Musgrove, who will be honoured with a race named after him on the day.

With a career spanning more than four decades, Musgrove has trained more than 700 winners, including champion horse Karasi who achieved international success in Japan winning the Nakayama Grand Jump three years in a row.

Known for his horsemanship and passion for the industry, Musgrove has also played a pivotal role in mentoring countless young riders and stable staff over the years.

“I’m humbled to be the 2025 Country Achiever. We’ve raced a lot in the country over the years. There are a lot of great committees and a lot of great country clubs,” Mr Musgrove said.

“A recognition of long-term achievements. I’ve had a few runners at Flemington and some good days, but this is very special. I’m very humbled.” - Eric Musgrove

The nine-race card will include a number of highlights, including Group 1 place-getter Nonconformist in race 7 with in form jockey Luke Cartwright onboard.

Country race club members will enjoy complimentary access to the VRC Members Enclosure on the race day upon presentation of their valid country race club membership card.

Living Legends Twilight Payment and Maluckyday will be on course, parading after races 2 and 4 in the Mounting Yard and available for visits in the horse stalls throughout the day.

The VRC Punters Club will be open in Saintly Place and The Atrium, with tickets available for just $10. Expert tipsters Grace Ramage and Marc Ohlmus will provide exclusive insights and selections across the program.

Gates open at 11:15am with the first race at 11:55am. Flemington Pass (General Admission) tickets are $20 per person, with children under 12 admitted free.
