Flemington during Cup Week is a fitting stage for an artist whose sound has defined more than two decades of contemporary music. Since the release of Born To Do It in 1999, David has fused R&B, soul, and UK garage into a nostalgic yet unmistakably current style. His smooth vocals and effortless charisma have produced a catalogue of global hits, including 7 Days, Fill Me In, and Walking Away, earning him 14 BRIT nominations, two GRAMMY nods, an MBE for services to music, and more than five billion streams worldwide. His latest album, Commitment (August 2025), continues
that creative evolution – polished, confident, and full of rhythm. David first visited Australia in 2001 and was last here in 2022. This will
mark his second appearance at the Melbourne Cup Carnival, where he’s set to once again blend music, glamour, and atmosphere in a way only he can.
“Some of my favourite memories have been made in Australia,” David said.
“I love the energy, I love the vibes, I love the Australian crowds.
I love how you’ve always shown me so much love and embraced me every single time I’ve come, and I’m very excited to be back performing at Flemington.”
Before taking to The Elms stage on Crown Oaks Day, David will also perform at the VRC Crown Oaks Club Lunch on Wednesday, 5 November, one of the most elegant days on the Carnival calendar. Across both events, fans can expect a performance that balances crowd-pleasing nostalgia with the contemporary energy that has kept him at the top of his game. His return to the Melbourne Cup Carnival will ensure Crown Oaks Day is unforgettable.
