The race day will see seven sprint races down the famous Flemington straight starting from 3pm with a 30-minute gap between races to create a fast and fun summer afternoon at Headquarters.
Racegoers will be able to join the action by participating in the Victoria Racing Club’s new competition, where they can guess the fastest speed of a horse for the chance to win a TCL television in races four to seven.
Jockeys will be able to share in the prize pool with the ride of the afternoon to be awarded an annual Eynesbury golf membership valued at $2,550 thanks to Resimax Group.
The race meeting will also be broadcast live on Racing.com with co-hosts Jason Richardson and Lizzie Jelfs bringing their expert opinions to the program.
The fifth race on the program will be named the Deane Lester GoFund Me in support of long-time friend of the VRC and renowned racing expert Deane Lester who is currently battling health issues. The VRC are encouraging racegoers to donate to the GoFundMe page to support Deane and his family during this difficult time.
Tickets are selling fast for the popular Mates Rates picnic tables on the Front Lawn, with tables available to be reserved for up to six people. An acoustic duo will play live music throughout the afternoon, while children and families can enjoy games and activities on the lawn.
VRC Members and their guests can keep the celebrations going on The Club Stand Roof Garden with a live DJ set offering the perfect start to the weekend.
VRC Executive General Manager of Racing Leigh Jordon said Resimax Group Rapid Racing was a different attraction for the VRC and was looking forward to the punchy program.
“Now in its fourth year, Resimax Group Rapid Racing continues to be a unique talking point on the racing calendar at Flemington. The introduction of the fastest speed competition allows racegoers to feel part of the racing action and give them something else to cheer for,” Mr Jordon said.
“We have had strong support from connections who want to race at Flemington and the race day is shaping to be the perfect Friday afternoon with plenty of entertainment on and off the track.”
Gates open at 2:00pm and the first race starting at 3:00pm.
Racegoers can purchase tickets at Ticketmaster with prices starting at just $20 per person. Children under 12 and accompanied by an adult are admitted free to Flemington all year round.
The latest track and weather conditions can be found on the VRC website with the most up-to-date information including the track report, wind tracker and wind flyover.
Living Legends Twilight Payment and Lucky Nine will be on-course where racegoers can visit them in the horse stalls throughout the day or watch them parade in the Mounting Yard before the first race and after the final race of the day.
Summer racing continues at Flemington with Black Caviar Lightning Stakes Race Day on Saturday 18 February.
