The Crown Oaks, a Group 1 race for three-year-old fillies, is a highlight of the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Run over 2500m, it tests the stamina and class of the next generation of equine stars.

This challenging 2500m test has showcased some of the most brilliant performances from fillies destined for greatness.

Let’s revisit some standout performances from past Oaks:

2013: Kirramosa – The New Zealand-bred Kirramosa prevailed in a three-horse fight to the finish.

2016: Lasqueti Spirit – In one of the biggest upsets in Oaks history, this 100-1 outsider led by an astonishing margin from start to finish, defying all expectations.

2008: Samantha Miss – Given a perfect ride by Hugh Bowman and trained by Kris Lees, Samantha Miss cruised to victory, leaving Miss Scarlatti and Allez Wonder in her wake.

2015: Jameka – A powerful display of strength and determination from a filly who would go on to win the Caulfield Cup, making history as the first Oaks winner to do so.

2004: Hollow Bullet – In a thrilling finish, Hollow Bullet produced a sensational burst to claim victory by a short half-head, giving trainer John McArdle his first Group 1 win. Ridden by David Taggart, this courageous filly snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
