VRC kicks off autumn celebrations with Flemington Long Lunch

The VRC’s autumn celebrations kicked off today with the Long Lunch previewing the unmissable Group 1 racing, delicious food and wine, spectacular entertainment and fantastic fashion racegoers can expect across the month of March at Flemington.

On a glorious morning at Flemington, the Long Lunch marked the start of the VRC's autumn celebrations. Set against the backdrop of the Mounting Yard, vibrant floral arrangements and colourful umbrellas complemented the summery fashion choices of the guests. With the sun shining brightly, hats were back in full force.

The event provided a glimpse of the exciting Group 1 racing, delectable food and wine, and world-class entertainment that will unfold throughout March. The Flemington Racing Spectacular will feature three unmissable race days: Howden Australian Guineas Day on Saturday, 1 March, Super Saturday on 8 March, and the TAB Australian Cup Day on Saturday, 29 March.

Flemington Racing Spectacular

Guests were treated to insights from key racing figures, including reigning Lexus Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Robbie Dolan and Group 1-winning trainers Ben Hayes and Natalie Young. VRC Chief Executive Officer Kylie Rogers shared the thrilling plans for March, including the VRC’s partnership with the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival and the highly anticipated return of Fashions on the Field.

Living Legends Apache Cat and Twilight Payment also made special appearances, while the four Group 1 trophies that will take centre stage across three extraordinary days of racing were proudly displayed.
