VRC supports former racehorses in the Sydney International Three Day Event

The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) is proud to continue its support for retired racehorses this weekend at New South Wales’ premier eventing competition, the Limitless Lodge Sydney International Three Day Event (Syd3DE).

Held at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre from 22 to 24 November 2024, the competition attracts Australia’s leading eventing riders, including Olympians Shane Rose and Shenae Lowings, who both represented Australia in Paris earlier this year. Shane will be partnering with well-known former racehorse The Bandit in the CCI4*L.

Shane and Shenae also attended Lexus Melbourne Cup Day at Flemington earlier this month where their achievements in equestrian sport and love of the horse were celebrated in the pre-Cup ceremony when they accompanied Olympian Ariarne Titmus OAM and Paralympian Alexa Leary to present the Lexus Melbourne Cup trophy to the crowd of 91,168 racegoers on-course, along with millions of Australians via Nine’s broadcast, prior to the running of the 2024 Lexus Melbourne Cup.

This weekend the VRC is presenting a prize for the Best Performed Thoroughbred in the CCI4*L and CCI3*L at the Syd3DE, in celebration of the success of the thoroughbred at the elite levels of eventing.

Shenae won both these prizes in 2023 on two different thoroughbreds, prior to representing Australia at the Paris Olympics on her former racehorse Bold Venture.

This year’s awards will be presented by VRC Ambassador and Olympian Amanda Ross.

VRC Chief Executive Officer Kylie Rogers said the club was pleased to support such an important event.

“The Victoria Racing Club has a long history of supporting retired racehorses in their second careers and we are delighted to continue backing the Sydney International Three Day Event,” Ms Rogers said.

"The thoroughbred has long been synonymous with excellence and versatility, and we are proud to see so many of them compete in elite equestrian competitions under the VRC banner.

“By sponsoring the Best Performed Thoroughbred awards at the Syd3DE, we honor the remarkable contribution these horses make to the sport.

"We wish all the competitors the best of luck for a safe and successful event.”

Syd3DE naming rights partner Limitless Lodge is responsible for starting the careers of some of Australia’s most successful racehorses including Winx, Chautauqua and Nature Strip.

The annual event is one of four elite competitions that the VRC supports with a Best Performed Thoroughbred prize, which also includes Melbourne International 3 Day Event, Adelaide Equestrian Festival and Melbourne Royal Show.
