Established in 2009, the Winter Race Series brings together a mix of quality established and emerging horses looking to make their mark at racing Headquarters. Flemington Finals Race Day will see the culmination of a series of heats run across the state during May and June. The race day has been a springboard for higher success for several horses including Passive Agressive and Tuvalu in recent years.
The Lindsay Park training trio of Ben, JD and Will Hayes will saddle up eight runners across the day with the team hoping to continue their hot form at Flemington. A strongly contested race on the day will be the VRC-CRV Winter Championship Series Final (1600m) with Flemington galloper and stable favourite Munhamek looking to win his third race in a row.
Living Legend Santa Ana Lane will be trackside to witness the race named in his honour, alongside former Hong Kong most popular horse of the year Pakistan Star. Racegoers can visit the legends in the horse stalls and watch them parade in the Mounting Yard after races 2 and 4.
Victoria Racing Club Chief Executive Steve Rosich said the club was looking forward to the race day.
“Flemington Finals Day is one of the highlights on the winter racing calendar with momentum building towards this race day via the heats of each series,” Mr Rosich said.
“Away from the racing action there are a host of options to keep racegoers warm on a winter race day including the Family Bistro in the View and the Punters Club in Saintly Place.”
The popular Family Bistro returns to The View for 2024 and is blasting off into a new dimension with an ‘Otherworldly’ theme. The youngest of VRC Members are sure to have a great day out with a whole lot of family fun on offer including an Intergalactic Workshop, Silent Disco and arcade games.
