We get another look at some Victoria Derby hopefuls here and OBVIOUS (7) may not look obvious on first glance having won a Bendigo maiden last time out, but often these sorts of races can be won by horses through a good maiden and the time there was strong. The first three gapped the rest and he still won by 1.5 lengths himself. He should land close to the pace and run it out strongly at each way odds. OPTIONS (4) has been to this trip when a good effort in the Derby Trial, beaten a head over this route 13 days ago. Perhaps a few more likely types here but he's one himself and can atone. MIEWA (2) relished the step to 1600m with a strong win at Moonee Valley last time, coming from well back off a solid speed to score. He should be very hard to hold out to 1800m. ARCORA (1) was unsuited fresh at 1400m but did win over this route as a 2yo and will be fitter. Respecting AZAZEL (9) at big odds who looks a genuine stayer off a grinding win at Seymour on debut.
