For 17 years, VRC Member Annette has made Turnbull Stakes Day with friends a tradition. She is hoping to have found some winners this Saturday and also find her horse to follow this Spring Carnival.
Competitive race for the mares. MIRAVAL ROSE (2) was solid behind Angel Capital in fast time fresh before boxing on well to score at Caulfield last time. The issue there was staying at 1200m but she got the job done and now gets to 1400m third up which should suit better. Lands on speed from the gate and will take catching. ON DISPLAY (4) is the interesting one. She won in fast time with 60.5kg fresh but it was only BM78 company. Have to excuse the run last time in the G2 Lets Elope when blocked for a run and effectively eased down. Should get clear air this time but an early $3 elect looks short enough. MARBLE ARCH (1) resumed in the Lets Elope and did enough from back in the field, getting home into sixth. Would love 1600m for her but that Blamey win in the Spring was outstanding. ROLL ON HIGH (7) was sound fresh behind Miraval Rose and getting to 1400m will really suit. POP AWARD (3) next best.
